Animal Crossing: Wild World Face Guide

Special thanks to Kaje for submitting information to this guide based on data from rupan777's translations from Oideyo Doubutsu no Mori. Thanks also to Angevin02 for game testing and doing additional translations, and to zenywolf for the initial info about Kapp'n's taxi.

December 5th, 2005: English questions have been added. The root questions have slightly different variations (which version you get is completely random) but the paths remain the same. Just follow the As and Bs and you'll get the face you want.

Much like Animal Crossing for the Nintendo Gamecube, Animal Crossing: Wild World determines your facial characteristics by how you decide to answer a series of questions at the start of the game. In Animal Crossing (GCN), these questions were subtly asked by Rover the Cat in a friendly meeting on the train to your new town. The conversation on the train was merely a way of masking the face-determining-questions with a bit of humor. Clever Nintendo--as a result, many users initially thought that Animal Crossing faces were randomly determined, but a face guide was later discovered through trial and error.

Instead of holding the crucial conversation with the infamous Rover, Animal Crossing: Wild World will determine your player's face by a conversation in a taxi-cab with Kapp'n, who formerly ran the boat shuttle to Animal Island. Kapp'n will ask you your name and whether you are a girl or a boy, but he will also ask you questions that seem to be just for the sake of making conversation. These three questions are listed below. How you answer them will make--or break--your face.

The English Questions

Note: Only the a-variation questions will be listed in the chart.

1a.Kapp'n: Jumpin' jellyfishes...I've had about enough of this here rain!
You either answer A: Me, too! Or B: I like it!

1b. K: Speakin o’ fishies, they could swim in this road...This rain be merciless!
You either answer A: I know! Or B: It's calming.

2a. Kapp'n: So tell me, player name. Why are ye settin’ sail fer town name?
You either answer A: I'm moving. or B: Butt out!

2b. (Will be added at a later date)

3a. Kapp'n: Do ye have enough to get settled?
You either answer A: Yup! or B: Kinda...

3b. (Will be added at a later date)

The Japanese Questions

The paths to determine the faces (AAA, AAB, etc) are the same in the Japanese and English version. Here are the translations of the Japanese questions. Kapp'n may ask slightly different variations of these questions.

1. Kapp'n: It's been raining a long time, don't ya think?
You either answer A: Yeah. Or B: Nah.

2. Kapp'n: What did you come here for?
You either answer A: I'm moving here. or B: None of your business!

3. Kapp'n: Do you have any money?
You either answer A: Yes. or B: A little.

The Path Chart

Listed below are charts for both girl and boy characters. Answer the questions as listed to get the face that you desire.
