| Forum Release Date and Thanks! | | Posted by shurst2004 on January 4, 2008 @ 10:29 PM EST | It is with great pleasure that I can announce that the forums will be returning the weekend of January 18th!
In addition to this great news, we have a small surprise. When the forums return, we will be upgraded to phpBB version 3.0!
This new version of phpBB has several new features you're all sure to enjoy, however any special features that the forums once had (such as the Bells system) will return on a MAYBE status. They MAY return immediately, or there MAY be delay. This is always the downside of upgrades because mod authors need time to change their mods to conform with the latest code changes.
Also, please note that the most recent backup we have is from September, so any new users and any new posts from that date in September up until the forums went down on November 25th will be lost.
Regardless of this minor loss, Animal Crossing Ahead looks forward to continuing to be your #1 Animal Crossing website now and in the future. We are eager to see your happy "ready-to-wifi" faces back on the forums in just a little while. Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel, #megadoomer, on the WindFyre network. If you'd like to use our Java Client, click on the AXA IRC Chat text link to the left of this post OR the AXA IRC Chatroom image to the right of this post. Don't forget to read the rules!
We'd also like to add a few notes of thanks.
First, thanks to all of the users who have waited patiently for the forums to return. We know how upsetting it is to have your favorite community (*wink, wink*) down for so long, and we can't say thank you enough for your patience while resolving the matter.
Next, thanks to all of the staff who work in the IRC channel, on the website, and on the forums. The time you all devote to the community is amazing, and we can't say thank you enough for all of the time and hard work you've contributed as staff.
Most of all, thanks to Nickolis and RoverDEAD who worked tirelessly to restore the community we've all come to know and love. These guys do a lot of work behind the scenes and on the front lines that goes largely unnoticed and unappreciated, so let's all remember that it's their hard work that keeps Animal Crossing Ahead going and without them, there would be no Animal Crossing Ahead!
Phew, such a long post. Have two weeks passed since I began writing? No?
Maybe I'll just freeze myself until then....

We will keep you all up to date and will post updates here as soon as new information is learned.
To answer a few common questions: we weren't hacked, and we're not upgrading to phpbb3. This is merely a server move.
