The Diary of a DS-Addicted Turtle
August 16th, 2005 Dear Diary, Well, it's still a while yet before my all-time favorite Nintendo game comes out for the DS. Yup--that's right! Animal Crossing comes out in a few months, and I'm really looking forward to it. Oh, don't get me wrong. I still get a kick out of the Gamecube version... but... Well, let me put it to you this way--you ever see the controllers on one of those? The Wavebird gets a great connection from the tank, but it's tough work for any reptile to mash those buttons fast enough when you're less than a foot long. And hey, it should be obvious to Nintendo that turtles are just not joystick-compatible. But lo and behold, you write enough letters to Nintendo and sooner or later they come through for you. Last fall Nintendo released a system just for TURTLES! Boy, was I happy. The Nintendo DS is just my size, with a nifty backlight for late-night tank gaming. Best yet is the touch screen. How did they know that turtle claws double as perfect styluses?
Anjou using the DS Isn't my silver DS neat? I hope they come out with a green one sometime soon. I've been looking for a skin for mine, but there aren't too many turtle-y skins out there. I've been hoping to find a skin of Tortimer the Mayor. It's embarrassing, but I think I might have a crush on him. I guess I'd settle for one of Kapp'n, but he's not really my type. I mean, there's just too much singing about cucumbers to really take him seriously. So, anyway...I'm not the only turtle on the block with a DS. My sister Bartlett recently acquired a cobalt blue DS and it's great fun kicking her tail at Zoo Keeper. I haven't had an opportunity to try the download option until very recently... If you haven't tried it out yet, you really should! It's SO much fun playing DS games on two player mode, especially with the wireless hookup! I can be basking out in the pool while Bartlett is inside half-watching Animal Planet. Between you and I, I sometimes think that Bartlett pretends to disconnect when she's losing to me. I'm sure that she just shuts off the power. The Turtles' Systems The one thing we do seem to be able to play without having "technical problems" is Pictochat. I guess you really don't PLAY Pictochat, but we have fun talking over it. It's also a great opportunity for me to practice my typing skills. I practice all the time in AXA's IRC channel, but the DS touch keyboard is much easier on my manicure. Even better, I get to practice drawing. Bartlett's a better artist than I am. She draws a pretty decent likeness of me. I'm impressed, anyway. Check it out! Anjou and Bartlett's Pictochat Conversation That's all you get to see, though. Mean, aren't I? I know, that's some pretty juicy stuff right there, but the rest of the conversation was hot! What? Oh--it had nothing to do with Tortimer. I only said I might have a crush on him after all... Anjou loves her DS Aren't I a looker? And that's not even my good side! Well, I'd say more but it's almost dinner time and I'm looking forward to turkey sandwiches, yum yum. Later tonight I have to work on getting all the Meteos endings and I have to finish moderating the AXA forums, so I probably won't have time to write for a little while... But don't worry! I'll have lots of stuff to tell you about soon enough! For now, turtle out!
