News and Updates

Lots of Updates!
Posted by Jess on November 23, 2005 @ 3:39 PM EST
First of all, I ended up doing another update to the Animal Crossing: Wild World character list. Bulerias ended up sending me some updates, and chuggaconroy left some corrections for me. The key and tables are updated as a result.

Liquefy has a copy of Oideyo Doubutsu no Mori, which is the Japanese version of Animal Crossing: Wild World. Out of sheer kindness, he has dropped by the Animal Crossing Forums to answer questions and update regularly about his experiences. His official thread can be found by clicking here.

In other news, Mik2121 has also got the game, and has posted pictures at his site: http://mik2121.com/2005/11/23/oideyo-doobutsu-no-mori/.

That's all for now!

And Yet Another Character Update!
Posted by Jess on November 22, 2005 @ 10:06 PM EST
This will likely be the last character update before the official list of characters is relased, but if you head over to the Animal Crossing: Wild World character page you will find that the character key and tables have been updated with a bunch of new information from recent news sources. Thanks to biffyboy for submitting Japanese names, and to chuggaconroy for correctly identifying the otter in the suit.

Yet Another IGN Contest Update
Posted by Jess on November 22, 2005 @ 8:46 PM EST
The following was posted to IGN not too long ago:

Just got off the phone with Nintendo.

There's been a delay in the early copies of the game, so Nintendo won't actually have them in their possession until Monday at the earliest. I have arranged for Nintendo to send them directly out of the Redmond headquarters, hopefully getting them in the winners' hands by next Tuesday.

Everything about the contest still stands: free copy, temporary VIP status, board title. It's just delayed a couple of days.

*THIS* is exactly the reason why I will not announce the winners until I know 100% that they have the game in-hand. Just imagine ten people who KNOW they should have it, but for some reason it's not in their hands yet. I'd rather just put everyone on an even playing field until the moment arrives.

-- Craig

So, there you have it. No word until Monday. To all those who entered, keep watching your mailbox, and good luck!

Japanese AC:WW Released
Posted by Totey on November 22, 2005 @ 3:41 PM EST
There's only 12 days left until Animal Crossing: Wild World is out in North America, but the Japanese version debuts today!* As people begin to receive their imported copies of the game, new information can't be far behind. Stay tuned!

*It's currently Nov, 23rd in Japan for those confused about the release date. :)

Media and IGN Contest Update
Posted by Jess on November 22, 2005 @ 11:33 AM EST
The first item of the day is a link by regular contributer, chuggaconroy. Check out this link to take a peek at the Japanese "Touched" commercials: Animal Crossing Vids. Thanks to *Hen*, Raven, and Plog for helping the dial-up impaired double check the contents.

In other news, there's been lots of mail regarding the IGN contest and how anyone will know if they won. This is a summary of what's been going on over there:

1. Winners will not be announced. Instead, they will receive their copy of Animal Crossing: Wild World in the mail as a surprise.

2. Winners will receive a colored title and VIP status upon realizing that they have won.

Hopefully, this information will curb some of the anxiety about this contest.

Official NA Animal Crossing: Wild World Site
Posted by Jess on November 21, 2005 @ 3:22 PM EST
Well, it's up! If you head to http://www.animal-crossing.com/wildworld/ you'll find the official Animal Crossing: Wild World site. There are some new animals labeled with NA names (Tipper, Stitches, Curt) and lots of new media. Go and check it out!

Update to the Character Sheet
Posted by Jess on November 20, 2005 @ 7:17 PM EST
Thanks to Liquefy, the Animal Crossing: Wild World character page has been updated with the correct names of the characters. There were quite a few characters on the list that were added because of a news source that claimed the animals from Doubutsu no Mori would be in Wild World. As this seems to be a rumor, many characters that were added because of this source have now been removed. I apologize for any confusion. If there any additional corrections that need to be made, please contact me at jess@megadoomer.com. A confirmed character list should be up around the time of Wild World's North American release. Stay tuned for that!

Interesting Nsider thread
Posted by Jess on November 19, 2005 @ 10:31 PM EST
Over at Nintendo Nsider there's a very interesting thread with a list of features taken from the Animal Crossing: Wild World article in Nintendo Power issue #199. It's probably worth keeping an eye on, as there are some interesting tidbits posted there, such as being able to post patterns to the ground outside. Hopefully, as Nintendo Power becomes available to more people, we'll be able to confirm this information. :)

In the meantime, go check it out!
